Simple Calculator
Type your numbers. We'll do the math.
A free online calculator, with nothing in the way
This is a plain online calculator for everyday sums. Add, take away, multiply and divide, with buttons big enough to tap on a phone and no menus to work through first.
It is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and nothing you type is sent anywhere or saved.
You can use your keyboard
On a computer you can type instead of clicking. Number keys work as you would expect, and so do the plus, minus, star and slash keys. Press Enter for equals, Escape to clear, and Backspace to rub out the last digit if you mistype.
Common questions
Is this calculator free?
Yes. Every calculator here is free to use, with no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.
Can I use my keyboard instead of the buttons?
Yes. Type numbers normally, use + - * / for the four operations, Enter for equals and Escape to clear. Backspace removes the last digit, so a typo does not mean starting again.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers, and the buttons are sized to be tapped with a thumb.
Is there an online calculator with fractions here?
Partly, and it is worth being clear about which part. This calculator divides, so 1 ÷ 2 gives 0.5, but it cannot yet show an answer back as a fraction like one half.
The percentage calculators do understand a fraction typed in. Putting 45/60 into the marks calculator is read as forty-five out of sixty and gives 75%.
Why does it not follow the usual order of operations?
Typing 2 + 3 × 4 gives 20, not 14, because each button press works on the running total — the same way a pocket calculator behaves.
If you need the multiplication to happen first, work that part out on its own, then add.
